Prof. Reimar Seltmann

Reimar started his career in Germany (PhD Bergakademie Freiberg / Saxony; research positions at Central Institute for the Physics of the Earth / GFZ Potsdam and Geological Survey of Canada) before joining in 1999 the Natural History Museum London (NHM). He founded in 2002 CERCAMS (Centre for Russian and Central EurAsian Mineral Studies) which he leads as bridge between applied research and mining consulting offered by NHM Mining Sector. Since 2013 he is a Research Leader at NHM.

Reimar has co-led numerous international network projects on mineral deposit studies (IGCP-373, -473, -592, -662) and served as coordinator of a commissioned research project for a consortium of ten mining companies in the Altaids of Central Eurasia. He has published more than 100 original articles in peer-reviewed journals (SCOPUS h-30) and served 12 years as IAGOD Publication Manager in editing and publishing more than 20 reference books, monographs and guidebooks. He is currently an Associate Editor of ten international journals including Ore Geology Reviews, EPISODES and, from 2019, Gondwana Research.
