The main scientific interests are connected with sedimentary and volcanogenic-sedimentary complexes of folded areas (petrography, facies, formations, stratigraphy), with reconstructions of sedimentogenesis basins, paleotectonics, paleogeodynamics, regional geology of the Urals and the conjugated territories. G.A. Mizens has been working at the Institute of Geology and Geochemistry since 1970 after graduating from the geological faculty of the Leningrad State University. In 1970-1973 he is the student of the post-graduate courses. In 1975 he defended his candidate thesis on the topic “Lithology and conditions of formation of the Arty terrigenous deposits of the Middle Urals western slope” and in 1995 – the doctor thesis “The Upper Paleozoic flysch formation of the Western Urals”. From2004 G.A. Mizens works additionally in the Urals Mining University as a professor delivering lectures and practices at the courses: General geology, Lithology and Sedimentary basins.
Among the main conclusions obtained by him during his working at the Institute it should be noted the models of sedimentogenesis, paleogeography and paleotectonics for the late Paleozoic of the Western Urals (in the first turn of the Preduralian foredeep), late Devonian and Carboniferous of the Southern Urals, Carboniferous of the eastern slope of the Middle and Southern Urals.
The obtained results have been published nearly in 300 works, including 5 monographs, a number of preprints. Several educative tutorials have been also published.
